Claire's security neck

Claire is a thumb-sucker. Always her left thumb. One time I saw her put her right thumb in and immediately spit it out like it was the nastiest tasting thing in the world. She mainly sucks when she's tired and wants to go to sleep or if she is sitting on my lap just snuggling.

Claire is also a neck rubber. Never Daddy's neck (too hairy?), just Mama's. Whenever she sits on my lap, the left thumb goes in the mouth and the right hand goes up to play w/ my neck. Even if she has to reach all the way across her head or body to get to it. It occasionally turns into a hard pinch, but that happens less often than it used to. Mostly just a constant grabbing and rubbing. It's like her security blanket.

Today we were outside, and Claire was sitting on the grass. It was getting close to naptime, and she started sucking her thumb. After a minute of that, her right hand went up to play w/ her own neck because mine was a good 6 feet away. I chuckled to myself.
