Noah and the Baby

As Doug mentioned in a previous post, the baby has started kicking. I am 19 weeks along today, almost halfway there! It is flying by. I felt Noah and Claire "flutter" at 13.5 weeks each. With this one, I've felt very little. Then a couple of weeks ago I was lying in bed when I got a good, solid, unmistakable kick. Since then it's been party time! I've felt movement almost every day. I've gained a whopping 6 pounds so far. I seriously doubt I'll reach 50 like I did w/ Noah.

I'm really enjoying having a new person to "share" the pregnancy w/, even if he's only 3.5 years old. Noah is very excited about the baby. I told him very early on that the baby (and my belly) would get bigger, and then I would be able to feel the baby move, and then he would be able to feel the baby move. Last night as we were sitting on the couch, I felt the baby move so I put my hand on my belly and then felt a kick w/ my hand! Noah was right beside me so I put his hand on my belly but then the baby decided to go to sleep.

We saw a newborn the other night at my midwife's house after my prenatal checkup was over. Baby Josiah is only 2 weeks old. Noah and Claire were enchanted! As we were leaving, Noah started pretending that Snoopy was his baby. He even put him under his shirt like he was pregnant!

Noah told me that he wanted the baby to come out now. I explained that if the baby came while it was still very little, it would have to go to be w/ God. The baby would be happy w/ God, but we would be sad because we wouldn't be able to hold and kiss it. He decided it would be better if the baby waited to come out until it's this big (holding his hands far apart).

Noah just came to me and said that his baby (Snoopy) had come out. I asked if he was big enough and he said yes. Then I asked if he was going to nurse the baby. He replied, "Maybe tomorrow". Then he put Snoopy on my lap. Maybe I'm supposed to nurse him until then?
