Picture Day

I remember Picture Day back in school. I was always so excited at the prospect that maybe this year, it would turn out well. I was also very nervous at the idea that it probably wouldn't. I wasn't the most photogenic child in the world. Can't say I'm a particularly photogenic adult, either. At least I'm not afraid to smile anymore.

Tomorrow we are going to have a family portrait made. We haven't done that since Noah was 3 months old and he looks a little different now. Plus we have Claire! I've been wanting to do this since she was born. Now that #3 is coming it needs to be done. I'm not too concerned about how I will turn out (though I will try and remember to brush my hair beforehand). Now I'm concerned about how Noah and Claire will do. Though they tend to take cute pictures.

Noah can be a little iffy about pictures. Some days he is posing and practially begging you to take his picture. Other days he gets upset if you break out the camera (though this happens less frequently than it used to). So I've been telling him about this for the past few days, hoping that by taking any element of surprise out of the equation, he'll be OK w/ it. I showed him the picture from when he was little, explaining that he looks different now and that Claire is not in the picture so we need to get a new one. I also explained to him that after the baby comes we can do it again so that the baby will be in the picture. Talking about the baby always puts him in a good mood.

For extra insurance, I told him that he definitely will NOT look cute in the picture. Why? Whenever he gets a new outfit, whether it be from Grandma/Grandpa or a hand-me-down or whatever, he resists wearing it, saying he doesn't want to look cute. This made things difficult for a while, until one day I said, "You won't look cute" just out of pure exasperation! That totally satisfied him! And it works every time.

I'll try and post the pictures when we get them.
