Burgess Falls State Park
On Thursday when we went to see the eye doctor for Claire, we had a picnic beforehand at Burgess Falls State Park. It is only 15 minutes from the doctor's office (which is a good 2.5 hours from home). They have 3 waterfalls along the somewhat rugged 3/4 mile trail, each one bigger than the previous.
We strapped Claire in the Ergo and were SO VERY GLAD we had it! She is so heavy and there is no way she could have walked it. Actually she could have if we had had 3 days to kill. Anyway, on the hike out, I carried her in the Ergo and Noah held Doug's hand except for some really steep spots where Doug carried him. After we spent some time resting at the end of the trail (the really big waterfall), we put Noah in the Ergo (he loves the Ergo and had been asking for a ride in it) and Doug carried Claire in his arms until we got back to the middle falls. Then Doug carried Claire in the Ergo and I held Noah's hand on the walk back to the van/picnic area.
After lunch, we had to choose between the very nice playground and throwing rocks in the water because of time constraints. Noah chose the playground.
We'll definitely go back to BFSP the next time Claire needs to see Dr. Clopton. It is a beautiful park!
