My 15 seconds of international fame
OK, so it's not really fame since they never said my name or anything, but I'm still excited. :)
Back in July, we went on our semi-annual meat run to Polyface Farm in Virginia. We get all our beef and chicken from this farm run by Joel Salatin. This time we got 1/2 a cow and 15 chickens, along w/ some chicken wings for making buffalo wings and a few boneless chicken breasts. When you buy in bulk like this, it really isn't much more expensive than buying meat at the grocery store (especially when you consider you get plenty of steak!), and it is WAAAY cheaper than buying organic meat from Earth Fare or Whole Foods. Meat from Polyface is grassfed and practically organic (no antibiotics, hormones, etc.).
Anyway, when we arrived there was a reporter from the BBC interviewing some of Joel's customers about why they buy from him. And in many cases (like ours) driving hundreds of miles to do so. I suspected they would use our interview as I'm pretty sure we drive the farthest and sure enough, they did!
If you go here you can hear me being interviewed by the BBC. If you don't want to listen to the whole thing (around 25 minutes long), start listening around the 17:20 mark. The program is interesting, though.
