Convicting

Noah has memorized some Bible verses. He seems to enjoy it, and sometimes asks to do it. He has learned John 14:6, Genesis 1:1, and Isaiah 53:6. It helps that we have bought CDs with Bible verse songs, and listen to them a lot in the car. Noah and Claire like to sing along with some of the songs, which is really cute.

There is one verse that we have tried to get him to memorize, but he has no interest in it. Whenever I try to teach it to him, he says he doesn't want to learn that one. I think it's because the verse is too convicting for him. His response to this verse reminds me of how many church denominations want to pick and choose which parts of the Bible to follow, throwing aside the verses that make them uncomfortable.

Noah's least favorite Bible verse is Ephesians 6:1 - "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right."
