Goose Egg

This past week we went to my parents' house in NC. Going to see the Grandma and Grandpa w/ the goats is always a thrill. Besides getting to visit w/ Grandma, Grandpa, and the goats, there are also donkeys, Uncle Sid and Aunt Tina, Cousins Sidney, Lincoln, Rachel, and Prairie, and lots of toys that make obnoxious sounds hidden under the kitchen sink.

We got there on Monday and that evening after supper, Cousin Sidney was pulling Noah in a wagon on the carport. They took a curve a little too fast and Noah toppled out, head first, onto the concrete. Within 1 minute, he had a huge goose egg on the upper left part of his forehead. I had never seen anything like it. We considered taking him to the ER but decided against it since he was not having trouble walking or talking or screaming bloody murder.

Doug and I took turns holding him afterwards and w/i an hour he was playing w/ Grandpa and Claire, so we figured he was going to be OK. We put him to bed hoping it would look better in the morning.

Boy, did it ever. When I got up Tuesday morning he was already in the kitchen eating some grapes w/ Claire. There was no swelling whatsoever! There was just a smidgen of concrete burn. I couldn't believe it. It now has a very slight yellow tinge to it, but that's about all that remains. We should have taken a picture of it for posterity.
