I want rice.

We had an interesting conversation w/ Noah today about that new vegetable called "both". It went somewhere along the lines of the following.

Me: Noah, do you want beans, broccoli, or both?

Noah: I want rice.

Me: Yes, I know you want rice. But do you want beans, broccoli, or both?

Noah: Uh, both.

Me (looking skeptical as broccoli is the lesser of 2 evils in Noah's opinion): You want both broccoli and beans?

Noah: I want rice. I don't want beans and broccoli.

Daddy: Do you know what "both" means? It means you get 2 things, beans and broccoli.

Me: So do you want both or do you just want broccoli?

Noah: Broccoli. I want rice.

Me: Yes, Noah, I know you want rice. That fact has been established already.
